She was a young single mother with a 5 year old little girl with bright eyes, shiny black hair and who was really active and cheerful. The little girls name was Dilan. She started to spend more time with the elderly lady. Everyday she used to come downstairs just to visit her and play with her cat. The old lady was talking nonstop. Unknowingly, she transformed Dilans life. She picked the German language from her without accent. Many immigrant families live isolated, so that their children get to hear mother language only. When they start to go to school, they mostly have difficulties adapting the language and the culture. Dilans life was transformed from the moment she stepped into the old ladys house. If that lady thought that she didnt make a difference in others life or touch others life by then, this was the perfect opportunity.
Your life may seem ordinary or even dull until you touch anothers life and transforms that person. And that moment may come sooner or later unexpectedly. You dont have to be a genius or a scientist to transform human life. If you make a difference in one persons life that is connected in many ways to humanity. You help one person and you help humanity.
I like the story about the little girl who witnessed hundreds of starfish being washed to the shore. She realizes that and starts throwing them back to the ocean one by one.
A man sees her doing that and says; You wont be able to make a difference, there are hundreds of them And the little girl replies; For the ones which make back to the ocean I make a difference. And thats great.
Teachers complain sometimes. They think that most students cant get their point which they try so hard to make clear. The truth is if they touch one or two students lives and transform them with one act or sentence, which will stay with them forever.
Even if it is one little moment in your entire lives, if you made a difference in someones life; it is worth to live. Then your life is significance. To become aware of this moment, you need to live every moment deliberately, enthusiastically and only then you can see the miracles of life and the transformation you created in the existence of humanity. Only then you will feel your existence clearly and youll understand why you are here.
In extreme stress in cases like abuse, torture or humiliation, belittling someone so that the person looses respect of everyone around; the brain releases chemicals and hormones. This is a normal respond of the body. Cortisol is in high levels, blood pressure increases, the person may sweat a lot, and thyroid gland has inflammation.
And the memory of the traumatic event may be erased from the conscious memory. Actually this happens as a result of disconnection. The memory is still intact with all the details somewhere stored in your brain as well as in different dimensions, only the connection to that memory has been disconnected. And that is a protective reaction in order to keep the body, mind and the soul balanced. That can also be described as a survival way of the body and mind. As the time goes by, the unconscious memory is released as flashes in future causing stresses. The person still cannot connect the memory, but finds himself doing things without realizing why. In extreme physical and emotional abuse, the person has nowhere to go but a kind of substance abuse. It feels safe and right at first. To ease the emotional pain and unanswered flashing memories the person keeps using the substance. Without being able to connect it perfectly, the person finds it very difficult to cope with the situation.
